Day 3

Had breakfast by the pool, mie goreng for me & banana pancakes for the kids. I asked the waiter for some kecap manis (sweet soy sauce) & some chilli. About 5 mins later, out came my soy sauce in a jug with slices of fresh chilli - I actually meant chili sauce but didnt explain myself well enough! Needless to say, it was delicious... A little hot though.
After breakfast the kids went for a swim while I relaxed on a sun lounge.

My son started to feel unwell a little later, so he went to lay in bed while I sat on the terrace watching my daughter swim. Am so glad now that we didn't change rooms as it was handy being so close to the pool.
Later went for a short walk & found some DVDs for the kids to watch while I used the free 15 min foot massage in the hotels small spa. I paid for an extra 30 min back, neck & shoulder massage as well. I felt safe locking the kids in their room busy watching a movie while I was having the massage as it was within the hotel & a very short distance from our room. I also informed the lovely staff on reception that my kids were in the room by themselves & showed my son how to phone reception if they needed anything.

Had nasi goreng for lunch across the road at Wayan & Friends with a Bintang.
Before our trip I had organized via email an order of DVDs. The company sends a list, you make your choices, then they deliver to your hotel. Fantastic service & if you buy a certain qty they are presented in a folder in clear plastic sleeves. Much better than in the thin plastic that always rips that you get from shops. Thanks to Micbali & his forum for recommending this company. Here is the link if you are interested.

Son still not feeling well, lucky no D or V, just flu like symptoms of feeling hot then freezing cold and his body aching. He didn't feel like leaving the room & my daughter wanted to stay with him, so we ordered room service & they watched another movie. I had dinner in the hotel's restaurant & this time tried my first western dish. A friend had recommended their ribs & I was not disappointed. They were in a sweet smokey glaze & the meat just fell off the bone... absolutely delicious. There was so much on my plate, there was no way I could finish it all, so I asked to take back to the room. Later my daughter had fun feeding 2 cats out the front of our room. We had seen them earlier, but they were very timid... that is until they tried the ribs, we were now friends for life!

Hopped into bed with the kids & I feel asleep watching a movie....

Day 4 in Legian then onto Seminyak

Day 4 and son still not well, we leave him to rest while daughter & I go for breakfast. Back to the room & pack as check out is at 12pm. Amazing how messy a room can get in just 3 nights.
We hang around the pool & son now feels a little better and comes for a swim.
Has been a bit frustrating with him not well, as I had planned to do a lot more shopping & visit places and restaurants on my 'to do' list....oh well, there always next time.
We arrive at Puri Cendana in Seminyak and fall in love with this little hotel immediately. At reception are 4 resident dogs, the kids found out their names were Doot, Kum Kum, Minny & Umyule.

We walk along a path through beautiful gardens to our room on the ground floor and my visualizations for a room near the pool have worked. We step through double doors into the room & it's gorgeous old style Balinese with a big king size 4 poster bed with mozzi netting.

Through another set of double doors & step down into a bathroom with enormous terrazzo stone bath. The bathroom is surrounded in glass windows looking out into a tiny garden. There are blinds pulled halfway down, but you cannot get outside to pull them all the way down. My son points out that people in the building beside us might be able to see us on the toilet & in the bath/shower. Oh well, I don't know them I say!

This place is a real gem, inexpensive and a short walk to the beach. In wish we had longer than 2 nights here.
Over to pool area for a swim & some lunch.

Son feeling tired so he has another rest while daughter & I find the laundry. I read on TA there was one near the restaurant Delicious Onion, another place on my to do list.
Back to pool for a swim then my daughter had her nails painted with little flowers & I have 30 mins of reflexology. There is a little thatched roof bale near the pool for the treatments, so it's very tranquil. Daughter also has her fringe braided, great for keeping it out of her eyes. She falls asleep on the massage table for 45 mins! I sit on the sun lounge and relax and the girls let me know when she wakes up.

We return to the room & son doesn't feel like going anywhere, so they watch cable tv. I lock them into the room & I mean literally - there is a padlock! I want to check out the beach on sunset. I'm looking for a place called La Plancha, I had read on TA that it is a bar on the beach & you sit on bean bags while they serve you drinks. Walking along I find many bars, lots with bean bags. Lucky they all have names, so I walk not too far and find La Plancha. Its by far the busiest bar with funky chill out music and coloured beans bags with umbrellas. I take note that its packed at around 6pm and hope my son is feeling better so can come back tomorrow around 4pm.

Back to the hotel & we have dinner by the pool. I had a chilli chicken cashew dish & daughter only felt like a jaffle, son not hungry.
Off to bed, much quieter at Puri Cendana than Casa Padma.....
